How to hang your poster wallpaper
With photo wallpaper, you can do much more than just stick it on your wall. You can order it in all shapes and sizes, allowing you to get creative with wallpaper. Go for larger areas to wallpaper a whole living room or an office building. Smaller surfaces, such as a wallpaper circle or wallpapering a door. Or even smaller sizes: poster size. And precisely for that poster size, we want to share a fun DIY with you: making a poster hanger to hang your wallpaper poster with.
If you want to brighten up a plain-coloured wall, you can of course choose to stick a wallpaper circle on the wall. But if you prefer not to use wallpaper paste, you can also hang a wallpaper poster (or several) on your wall. In a frame or with a poster hanger. In this blog, we share how you can easily make a wooden poster hanger yourself.
DIY poster pendant: this is what you need
Your shopping list for the poster pendant is not long. And you can get almost everything at the DIY store, so super easy.
- A batten or skirting board (you can often have these cut to size for free at the home improvement store);
- Magnetic tape including metal tape;
- Two screw hooks;
- Ribbon or string;
- Scissors;
- Saw (if you want to cut the laths to size yourself);
- Sandpaper;
- Possibly paint.
DIY poster hanger: how to make it
Step 1: Saw the slats to the desired size
Of course, you can cut the slats to the right size yourself, but often you can also do this for free at the home improvement store. Just as easy. You need 4 strips in the length of your poster wallpaper. So if you have ordered A3-sized photo wallpaper, for example, you will need four 30-cm strips.
Step 2: Sanding and painting
Sand the laths smooth with the sandpaper. And if you like it, you can also paint the slats in a nice colour. In that case, let them dry well before moving to the next step.
Step 3: Attach magnetic and metal tape & the screw hooks
Stick the magnetic tape on two of the laths and stick the metal tape on the other two laths. Then screw the two screw hooks onto the top of one of the laths. Usually you can just do this by hand.
Step 4: Hanging up your poster
Finally, put the ribbon or string through the two screw hooks. Then you can place the poster between the slats. And your homemade poster clips are ready. Choose a nice spot on the wall to attach your poster hanger.
